Oldham Partial Lockdown

Note from Andy Goddard: Commodore No doubt you will have seen the news from the government on Thursday evening confirming that Oldham will go into semi-lockdown from midnight tonight. The government states "social activities both indoor and outdoor can only be shared by people who live in the same household" I spoke to the RYA yesterday for their comments and what action we should take. The RYA stated "We are in conversations with our legal advisor Mandy Peters who will help provide us further guidance once more information becomes available. Until we have further details I would recommend you take a conservative and cautious approach to any activity taking place at the club" I appreciate we only started formal racing again last week but after discussions with the Covid 19 committee, it was felt that we had little choice but to close the clubs facilities again including access to the water for informal 'buddy sailing' until the current restrictions are lifted. Hopefully the restrictions will soon be eased and I will of course keep you updated as the situation develops over the next few days/weeks. I understand this will be very disappointing news for all members but we need to follow government guidelines, keep our members safe and avoid any negative publicity for the club. Please email me if you have any questions.
